TIPS for Using CESJ's Web Site

To help you learn more about the Center for Economic and Social Justice (CESJ), our ideas, how to participate in our economic and social justice projects or organize an initiative of your own, here are some tips for navigating CESJ web site and virtual library.

The links at the top of the home page will introduce you to CESJ’s mission, core values, philosophy, accomplishments, activities and strategic projects. On the left hand column you can find links for ordering or downloading CESJ’s “must read” books. If you click on the “Library” link at the top of every page, you will see a listing of all the articles on our site.

The links on the right hand side of the home page will get you to our most important and recent articles discussing the principles and practical applications of a paradigm of political economy called “the Just Third Way,” a free enterprise theory of economics called “Binary Economics,” a national economic growth and citizen ownership agenda called “Capital Homesteading,” and a corporate leadership philosophy and management system called “Justice-Based Management.”

At the bottom of the home page is a search engine to help locate topics, authors or articles on the CESJ.org site. Scrolling down the center of the home page, you’ll see a section called “Social Justice Action Center” listing various ways you can get involved with our activities, including internships, volunteer work, and forming local CESJ chapters.

Some Pieces to Get Started

To introduce you to the basics of CESJ’s justice-based philosophy and economics of ownership, here are some brief selections you might like to read first (scroll down the right-hand column on the home page):

On the socio-economic paradigm we call “The Just Third Way”:

“The Just Third Way in Four Easy Pieces”

“A Quick Comparison of Capitalism, Socialism and The Just Third Way”

On the economic theory known as “binary economics”:

“Binary Economics in a Nutshell”

On our national economic reform agenda known as “Capital Homesteading”:

“The Capital Homestead Act: A Plan for Getting Ownership, Income and Power to Every Citizen”

Some In-Depth Pieces

The writings mentioned above are just to help you dip your toe in the water. If you’re ready to jump in and explore the deeper regions, here are links to more detailed writings (scroll down the right-hand column of the home page):

“Glossary on the Just Third Way”

“The Just Third Way: How We Can Create Green Growth, Widespread Prosperity and Global Peace”

“A New Look at Prices and Money: The Kelsonian Binary Model for Achieving Rapid Growth Without Inflation”

Capital Homesteading for Every Citizen: A Just Free Market Solution for Saving Social Security (ebook)

Also on the right-hand column of the home page, you’ll see links to CESJ’s “Recent Releases” and our “Strategic Solutions” to some of today’s most pressing problems, including the home foreclosure and credit crisis, universal health coverage, getting U.S. troops out of Iraq through a just deal for every Iraqi, and financing green technologies and local citizen ownership of land development.

CESJ’S YouTube Channel and Blog

Two new features on our web site are links to our JustThirdWay channel on YouTube.com featuring a number of video presentations by CESJ spokespersons and scholars. We have also started a new blog (Just3rdWay.blogspot.com) with CESJ’s daily commentary on current issues and a weekly CESJ news update. We encourage you to post your comments and submit articles as a guest blogger.

A Strategic Demonstration Project in
East St. Louis, Illinois

We’re not only a different kind of “think tank,” we also work to put our ideas into action. One of CESJ’s major projects is introducing an expanded ownership vehicle called “The Community Investment Corporation” (CIC), also known as the “Citizens Land Cooperative” (CLC), to be launched in East St. Louis, Illinois, one of the most economically depressed communities in the U.S. The project calls for the financing and commercialization of advanced waste-to-energy technologies as the first stage in a long-term vision of community rebirth.

You can see a good summary of this project in a letter that was sent by East St. Louis Mayor Alvin Parks and 10 other area mayors to then-Senator Barack Obama (Mayors' Letter to Barack Obama). If you use the CESJ web site search engine, or go to the “Library” (via the link at the top of the home page), you can find more information on the East St. Louis project and the Community Investment Corporation.
